Implanted Lantern
This lantern was created by a traditional craftsman from Aichi Prefecture who is skilled in carving stone lanterns. It features a unique design with attention to detail in the umbrella, fire box, and base.
Using the Natsuyama Stone, Domestically Produced Granite
The stone used for this lantern is shiro stone from Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. It is a rare granite called "both-mica granite" containing both white and black mica. Previously, it was commonly used for lanterns and other stone sculptures due to its low cost and high quality, but it can no longer be mined. Its relatively soft texture and moss-friendly properties are also popular features.
Custom Orders Available
For those seeking lanterns of different sizes or designs, we also accept custom orders. We offer proposals tailored to your image from various types of stone and craftsmen nationwide. Estimates are free. Please feel free to consult us via the inquiry form.
