弁財天（べんざいてん）は、日本で広く信仰されている「七福神（しちふくじん）」の一柱です。七福神とは、幸福や金運、長寿などさまざまな福をもたらすとされる七柱の神々の総称で、人々の暮らしに豊かさと安心を授ける存在として親しまれています。その中で弁財天は唯一の女神であり、特に「音楽・芸術・学問・知恵・財運」を司る神として知られています。

花沢石の特徴は、石質の“粘り”の強さ。石質が柔らかく、粘りが強いことから、彫刻に最適な石材です。きめ細やかで、低吸水率で高く、耐久性があります。墓石材のほか、石仏などの彫刻物にも多く用いられています。
彫刻を手掛けたのは、愛知県岡崎市の石職人。岡崎市は、日本の石材三大産地として知られ、一流の技術を持つ石工が多いことで有名です。その中でも、数々の寺院へ石仏を納めている職人さんに、特別に製作していただきました。

Benzaiten is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune, widely worshipped in Japan. The Seven Gods of Fortune are a group of seven deities believed to bring various blessings, including happiness, wealth, and longevity, and are cherished as beings who bestow abundance and peace of mind upon people's lives. Among them, Benzaiten is the only goddess, and is particularly known as the deity who presides over music, art, learning, wisdom, and wealth.
Her graceful figure, holding a biwa (Japanese lute), is considered a symbol of nurturing musical and artistic talent, and enhancing wisdom and sensitivity. She is also worshipped as a water deity and has long been cherished as a being that attracts good fortune and wealth. Her gentle and dignified presence brings calmness and elegance to any space, enriching daily life.

This piece uses Hanazawa stone, a representative white granite from Aichi Prefecture. It is quarried from Mt. Rokusho, one of the three sacred mountains of Mikawa, located in Hanazawa-cho, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. Mined since around 1887, it has long been a popular material for tombstones and sculptures in Aichi Prefecture.
A key characteristic of Hanazawa stone is its strong "toughness." Its soft yet tough texture makes it ideal for sculpture. It is fine-grained, has a low water absorption rate, and is highly durable. Besides tombstones, it is also widely used for sculptures such as Buddhist statues.
The sculpture was created by a stonemason from Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. Okazaki City is known as one of Japan's three major stone-producing areas and is famous for having many stonemasons with top-notch skills. Among them, we had this piece specially made by a craftsman who has supplied stone Buddha statues to numerous temples.
