京都・鞍馬の地で採れる希少な「本鞍馬石」を使用した、伝統的な関守石（せきもりいし）です。
関守石とは茶庭や露地で飛び石などの上に据えられる、棕櫚縄が十字にかけられた小石のことです。
この石には「これより先は立ち入りをご遠慮ください」という立ち入り禁止の意味があります。
棕櫚縄は手作業で丁寧に結ばれ、上部には持ち手もついており、実用性にも優れています。
十字に掛けられた棕櫚縄と石の自然な風合いが調和し、静けさの中に凛とした美を感じさせます。

鞍馬石は全国的な知名度を誇る京都の銘石です。
加茂七石の一つとして京都の庭園文化に深く根付いている石材です。
鞍馬から産出する本鞍馬石、丹波地方より産出する丹波鞍馬石、山梨県産の甲州鞍馬石に大別され、ISHIMOでは本鞍馬石を使用しています。
硬質で濃い茶褐色の落ち着いた色合いと、ゴツゴツした石肌が特徴です。
内部は白っぽい色をしていますが、表面は石に含まれる鉄分が酸化して鉄錆色に変化します。
古くから日本の庭園に使われる石材で、わびさびを表現するのに重要な役割を果たしてきました。
主には自然石の形のまま沓脱石・飛び石に使用したり、加工を施して手水鉢・記念碑などに使われます。

It can be broadly divided into genuine Kurama stones produced from Kurama, Tanba Kurama stones produced from the Tamba region, and Koshu Kurama stones produced from Yamanashi Prefecture, and ISHIMO uses genuine Kurama stones.
It is characterized by its hard, dark brownish, calm shade and rough stone finish.
The interior has a whitish color, but the iron contained in the stone oxidizes and changes to iron rust on the surface.
