関守石とは茶庭や露地で飛び石などの上に据えられる、棕櫚縄が十字にかけられた小石のことです。
この石には「これより先は立ち入りをご遠慮ください」という立ち入り禁止の意味があります。
棕櫚縄（しゅろなわ）は職人により手作業で丁寧に結ばれています。
